Reflexology

Marmatherapy

Kasa Bowl Treatments

Feet. They are our body’s roots that connect us with the Earth. They are our foundation, yet awareness of them is often the farthest thing from our minds. We use and abuse them every day without appreciating and understanding the important role they play. Through our feet, reflexology can have a positive and healthy effect on our whole being.

Melissa has been on the receiving end of Reflexology since childhood, and has experienced it’s benefits first hand. She believes that the natural balance and flow of energy throughout the body is essential to maintaining good health and well-being. Reflexology does just that: enables the body's natural healing processes to take place. Melissa practices yoga and meditation to keep herself balanced, and truly follows the ideal that the benefits of any therapy are much greater when the therapist has fresh energy and good intentions.

Melissa received her Holistic Foot Reflexology training at the Pacific Institute of Reflexology under Chris Shirley, and has most recently expanded her practice under Sharon Stathis learning Ayurvedic Reflexology, also known as the "Stathis Method of Ayurvedic Reflexology Therapy". Ayurveda understands the totality of the relationship between the physical body, mind, emotional and spiritual being, and the whole universe. It advocates that health is directly dependent upon harmony with oneself.
Being passionate about both methods of reflexology, Melissa has combined procedures from each to deliver an experience that is balancing, healing, energizing and relaxing.

What is Reflexology?
Foot reflexology is a method of stimulating reflex areas of the feet that relax and rejuvenate each and every part of the body including the glands and organs.
By relaxing the body, tension is relieved and the circulation of blood and lymph is restored to its natural flow and all of the body's processes function more efficiently. Simultaneously, awareness of one's body is heightened. These effects have been observed to facilitate the natural healing processes of the body and enhance a person's general health.
What are the benefits?
-enhances quality sleep
-supports the body's innate ability to heal itself
-heightens awareness of our body
-encourages healthy elimination of toxins & waste
-promotes effective lymph, blood and energy circulation
-supports and strengthens immune system
-induces a profound feeling of relaxation and well-being
-magnifies our connection with the Earth

Is Reflexology for Everyone?
Reflexology is a gentle non-invasive therapy from which almost everyone can benefit, whatever their age or state of health. It is safe for children, elderly, and pregnant women. Being a holistic and complementary therapy, Reflexology treats the person as a whole, and is beneficial both when the person is experiencing ease, or dis-ease.

Marma Therapy
Marma mean 'sensitive' or 'vulnerable areas', and is regarded as major locations of prana (energy). Stimulation of the marmas benefits the entire body by supplying specific help to the body's tissues, while releasing toxins and restoring energy. Oil is always used, as excessive friction can aggravate the energy centers.

Kasa Bowl Treatment
Kasa bowl: The metals that are predominant in the bronze kasa bowl are copper and tin. The rounded surface of the well oiled bowl is rubbed on the skin with circular and stroking movements, as it helps draw toxins from the body, and feels delightful.
Included in an hour treatment with Melissa is a foot soak, reflex point therapy, marma therapy and kasa bowl treatment, all with the use of oil’s specific to each person’s needs.

The reflex areas in our feet correspond to all parts of our body and this relaxing complimentary therapy offers a non-invasive and natural method of treating everyday ailments, counteracting stress and balancing the body and mind.
