The Centre earned its name from alchemy, the ancient form of science that investigates nature. Although today alchemy is generally used for historical reference, elements of its practice can still be found in medicine, notably Ayurveda, Chinese Medicine and herbal therapies. An alembic is an alchemical still used to transform that which is impure into pure.
